ABOUT
THE FOUNDATION
FOUNDATION HISTORY.
In 1972, Charles and Demetra Leonard established this foundation to honor the values of their late loved ones. It was these people who inspired them to strive to give back to their community. Their parents, John & Ethel Leonard, and Mary E. & Rev. W. L. Harris along with their daughter Julie L. Leonard-Donaldson, who lost her battle with breast cancer, were the driving force behind their desire to have a positive impact on the community.
COMMUNITY
IMPACT.
The foundation continues to demonstrate the mindset and ethics that were demonstrated by their inspirations. This commitment to giving to the community comes in many forms. One of our greatest areas of focus has always been education. Mainly in the form of scholarships for college, trade school and establishing college savings accounts for new families (529 plan). The foundation also helps families and individuals seeking help with basic needs, medical bills, utilities, senior hardship services and more.
FUTURE
GROWTH.
Demetra Leonard strived to help someone; in some way, big or small, every day. With her passing in 2021 Demetra left a significant portion of her and Charles’ assets to the foundation. It is with this endowment and their guiding principles that we are able to continue to strive to help our community. We are excited to continue their legacy and continue to be a positive impact on our community.
